I am Sarah Wiggins.
Ever since I was little I always wanted to record everything. My first camera was a Polaroid when I was 10. I would take photos of everything. The mundane: My pets, my barbies, my room. But sometimes I would catch something more exiting, my mom trying to catch the Christmas tree that was falling over, celebrating staying up until midnight on New Years, a geyser in the Cayman Islands on vacation. But all of the photos, whether mundane or more exciting were precious memories for me. By taking a photo of them I was preserving them in time, and they were always available if I wanted to reminisce or needed to feel comfort in the everyday.
My fascination with capturing everything on film continued through high school, where I took every photography class I could, developing my own black and white film and prints, even taking a course for the summer in Oxford, England when the opportunity arose. Into college I continued to take photos, but also studied drawing, painting, psychology, and graduated with an Art History Degree. I continued my studies and earned my Masters in Elementary & Special Education, but never stopped taking photos. Soon after graduating I started my family. After 10 years of focusing on my family it was time to find me again, and my photography.
My goal is to capture the moments now for others, the mundane and the exciting. To make people smile, to bring joy and comfort, to resurface memories, to preserve time.
